Pavel's Russian Yogurt has been a favorite on the West Coast for over thirty years. Pavel's has a mild taste and gentle consistency, reminiscent of the old-fashioned yogurts made in Eastern Europe, around the Mediterranean, and as far away as India. An Indian Food store in Silicon Valley has placed a sign in the front window, with a picture of Pavel's Yogurt on it. The sign reads: "If you want a taste of home, try this product.."
Pavel's Yogurt, aside from being delicious straight from the container, can be used in place of sour cream in many recipes, and in other combinations:
- On Baked Potatoes, rice, or bulgur wheat
- Top your favorite savory soups with a large spoonful of Pavel's
- With spaghetti sauce
- Include Pavel's Yogurt in your salad dressings
- Add Pavel's Yogurt to your favorite vinaigrette dressing for a variation on Caesar Salad
- Mix Pavel's with lemon juice and dill weed for cucumber salad, known as "Raita" in India
- Replace half of the mayonnaise called for with Pavel's for potato or macaroni salad
- In the morning:
- Try Pavel's Yogurt on waffles or pancakes with cinnamon and sugar, fresh fruit, jam, or honey
- Also on top of your favorite morning cereal, or mixed half yogurt and half milk for a creamy, rich taste
- Or, when you make pancakes or waffles, use Pavel's Yogurt and Baking Soda in the recipe instead of milk and Baking Powder for a delicious difference
- Pavel's Yogurt also can be used in place of buttermilk when making cornbread
- Snack time:
- Make smoothies with Pavel's Yogurt and ripe peaches, berries, or bananas
- Make cooling "lassi" drinks: Mix Pavel's Yogurt with pureed Mango and a little ice water and sweeten to taste
- Mix Pavel's with orange juice or a little frozen concentrate for a healthy breakfast drink
